Masako Katsura Japanese billiards player famous for being the “First Lady of Billiards”. Born in Tokyo in 1913, she became well-known during her career as one of Japan’s top players. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 87.

Masako Katsura History

Masako Katsura (1927- ) is a Japanese actress who has appeared in over 140 films since 1949. She is best famous for her work in the Kamen Rider franchise, where she has played the role of Aoi Tsukasa since 1971. Outside of Japan, she is best famous for her roles in the American films The Final Show and Waitress. Katsura was born on January 10 1927, in Tokyo, Japan. After completing her secondary education at Tsurugaoka Girls’ School, she studied drama at Waseda University before starting a long career in acting.

Her early work included appearances in television shows and films before landing the role of Aoi Tsukasa in Kamen Rider Kabuto. She reprised her role as Tsukasa throughout the remainder of the Kamen Rider series, which ran from 1971 to 1986. In 1988, Katsura began appearing in American films, beginning with The Final Show. Her other notable American film appearances include roles in Waitress (2010), Crazy Stupid Love (2011), and When Helen Met Jack (2015). Outside of acting, Katsura is also a singer and musician, having released several albums throughout her career. In 2018 she was award an Order of Culture medal by the Japanese government for her contributions to Japanese culture.

Masako Katsura competed in the Women’s World Championships as a Japanese billiard player. She won a silver medal at the 1997 championships and bronze medals at the 1985 and 1991 championships.

In 1994, Katsura get award an honorary doctorate from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She passed away on September 10, 2002, at 86, after a lengthy illness.
