Bali Pass Trek | Best Time to Visit 

INTRODUCTION:

There aren’t many treks that let one experience the raw magnificence of a Himalayan pass crossing. Connecting Har Ki Dun valley with Yamunotri, the Bali Pass is a thrilling trail. It crosses the confluence of Tons and Ruinsara rivers, the peacefulness of the Ruinsara Valley and the dense meadows of Devsu Thach. This trek lets you dive deep into The Himalayas. Best time to visit Bali pass trek:

The best time to visit the Bali pass trek is from Mid-May to June end and September to October mid. During winters the trek is fully covered with snow and the weather is completely unpredictable during the monsoons.  

Travel tips:

Bali pass is at an elevation close to 5000 metres so it is necessary if you had a prior experience in trekking.

It is important to train yourself 2-3 months earlier for the trek.

Reach a day or two before the trek so that you would adapt to the environment and high altitude conditions. 

Hire an experienced trekking guide to guide you during the trek. They will have much more experience and knowledge about the trek. 

How Do You Get There?

You may arrange a cab from the Dehradun pickup place, but the cost might not be included in the package. The transportation fare can be divided among the trekkers who sign up for the trek.

  1.  By Air:

 Dehradun’s nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, which is roughly 25 kilometres away and easily accessible.   1.  By train: 

The railway station in Dehradun can be reached by train. Two overnight trains leave from Delhi: the Nandadevi Express and the Dehradun Express. Trains are usually preferred over airlines since they allow you to take in the scenery in all of its splendour, are less costly, and you will certainly relish your ride to Dehradun.

Take both night’s trains from Dehradun to New Delhi – Dehradun’s special air-conditioned train from Hazrat Nizamuddin station is the best choice for you. 

  1.  By bus: 

You can reach Dehradun from Delhi by bus, boarding from (Delhi) Kashmir Gate ISBT; it is good if you have reserved seats.

Bali trek itinerary:

It takes almost 8 days to complete the Bali pass trek. Below is the best itinerary possible to complete the trek.

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankari.

Drive distance is 186 km and Driving time is 9-10 hours.

8-9 hours (1920 metres) overnight stay at the hotel. 

Day 2: Kotgaon-Chilurgad Trek.

Firstly, drive from Kotgaon to Taluka. Then, move to the Chilurgad trek. 

Drive Distance is 12 km | Drive Duration is 1-hour drive. 

DAY 3: Chilurgad – Devsu Thach.

Trek distance is 6 km | Duration is 4-5 hours | Altitude gain will be from 8,160 ft to 9,795 feet.

DAY 4: Devsu Thach- Ruinsara Tal.

Trek Distance- 10 km and Trek Duration: 4-5 hours

Altitude gain- 9,795 ft to 11,715 ft.

DAY 5: Ruinsara Tal-Thanga.

Trek distance- 3 km | Duration- 3 hours | Altitude gain will be 11,715 ft to 13,080 ft.

DAY 6: Thanga-Advanced base camp via Odari (Bali Pass Base Camp).

Trek distance- 5 km | Duration is 5-6 hours 

Altitude gain will be 13,080 ft to 15,100 ft.

DAY 7: Advance Base Camp-Lower Damini via Bali Pass.

Trek distance- 14 km | Duration is  9-10 hours | Altitude loss will be 15,100 ft to 10,080 feet via 16,207 feet (Bali pass).

DAY 8: Lower Damini to Dehradun via Janakichatti. 

Trek distance is 6 km | Trek Duration is 1 hour

Drive Distance is 169 km | Driving time- 8 hours | Altitude loss will be10,080 ft to 8,270 ft.
