My 5 Favorite Ways to Use Washi Tape Around the Home
Washi Tape Printing is a fun and easy way to add some personality to your home. I love decorating with washi tape because it’s inexpensive and easy to do. And you can use the same rolls of tape over and over again! Here are my five favorite ways to use washi tape around the home:
Washi Tape Picture Frames
Making a picture frame with washi tape is so easy. Simply choose a frame, and then wrap it with different patterns of washi tape! You can use any size or shape of frame you want to make an accent piece that fits perfectly in your home.
You might be wondering: what kind of picture should I put inside the frame? Well, here’s my go-to answer: anything that makes me happy! You can find tons of free printables online, or even just use old photos from Facebook (or whatever). If you’re feeling extra crafty, go ahead and cut out your own pictures from magazines or write inspirational quotes on them with a Sharpie pen!
Washi Tape on Light Switches
Washi tape has long been a favorite of mine for all sorts of craft projects. But I’ve recently started using it to decorate light switches, outlets and electrical boxes. You can get creative with this one!
I have several sets of really cute washi tape that I bought at Target. They’re mostly pink or red, but they have lots of other colors, too.
To cover a light switch: Just peel off the old cover and stick on your new one! It’s that simple.
To cover an outlet: Stick your Washi Tape Printing on top of the existing plate—it should be in between two pieces of plastic that come together when you screw them in place around the outlet itself—and then put back on the screws or faceplate underneath it so no one will see what you did unless they take out all those pieces again (which would probably only happen if someone wanted to change out their outlets). Don’t forget about any wires attached inside there too–they might not fit as well anymore! You’ll need some extra space as well because these things are pretty bulky once folded over onto themselves before being cut into shapes (and sometimes even after). That’s why we recommend sticking them at least 3 inches away from where they need to go because otherwise people might notice something weird happening when looking at where their lights turn off instead turning back on again…or maybe even worse than that: going off completely during certain times throughout day due to shadows cast by other materials like sheet metal covering up partway down wall side without allowing enough light through first time around much better option though not quite perfect yet either since some areas still get dark despite best efforts made
Label Your Storage Containers
Washi tape is great for labeling all sorts of things, including jars and containers. Like the other options listed below, it’s a quick and easy way to make your storage space look more organized.
Use a dry erase marker: If you like having your labels visible but don’t want them to permanently stick around, use a dry erase marker on your washi tape! You can write on it as needed and then wipe it off with a damp cloth if necessary. This works especially well for labeling items that may be frequently moved out of their designated spots (like canned goods in the pantry) or that are less likely to be used frequently (e.g., holiday decorations).
Use permanent markers: Washi tape makes it easy to quickly create customized labels for any type of container—even metal ones! Just use whatever permanent markers you have lying around until you find one that works best with the width of your washi tape rolls. Then simply attach them onto containers using double-sided adhesive squares or mounting squares (which are similar but not exactly the same). To remove them later on down the road should they become undesirable/unwanted again at some point in time down road–simply pull off gently without damaging any surfaces underneath!
Decorate Gift Wrap
- Decorate your gift wrap.
- Use it to make a bow. This can be done in several ways:
- Cut up the washi tape into strips, then layer them and twist them together to create a bow shape. Try alternating colors for a fun look!
- Roll washi tape around the handle of an object (such as a paintbrush), cut the end, and stick it in the center of the gift wrap with double-sided tape. You can also glue two pieces of double-sided tape on top of each other for extra security.
Make A Washi Tape Chandelier
Washi tape is an excellent craft supply, but it can also be used to decorate your home in a variety of ways. Try using washi tape to make a chandelier — it’s really easy!
First, find some string lights and hang them from the ceiling in your desired location. Next, take some washi tape (or whatever pattern you prefer) and wrap the string of lights with it so that the entire strand is covered. Finally, sprinkle on some glitter or sequins for extra flair!
This is one of my favorite DIYs because there are endless possibilities for how you might decorate them. Just think about how many different types of designs would look great on these chandeliers: stripes, polka dots… even cats or dogs! The only limit is your imagination (and maybe what kind of glue will hold everything together).
These washi tape ideas are fun and easy!
Washi tape is a great way to jazz up boring spaces. It’s also easy to make your own custom washi tape with a printer and some paper.
Washi tape can be used in many different ways:
- Use it as a decorative element on walls, mirrors and shelves. (Try this pretty floral pattern)
- Create your own wrapping paper by cutting out squares of washi tape and sticking them onto gift boxes or gifts you’re giving away. (I like this idea for teachers!)
- If you have some spare time on your hands, make your own custom designs for birthday parties or other special occasions by placing several colors down in various patterns before securing the tabs with double-sided tape or glue dots!
Conclusion
Whether you’re a crafter or just want to add a little bit of personality to your home, washi tape is a great way to do it. It’s all about finding the right colors and patterns that fit your style, so have fun with it!
