Ways to Make Travel Shoes More Comfortable

Closed shoes are the most recommended footwear for traveling. It keeps your feet and toes warm and comfy no matter what the temperature outside is. Plus, it also protects your feet from injuries especially when you’re walking in unfamiliar places. Whether you’re going on a short weekend getaway or a long holiday, walking plays a huge role in your travels making it highly important to consider the comfort of your shoes.

Here are some of the things you could do to prepare your shoes and make them more comfortable to wear during your travels.

Break In New Shoes

If you’re planning to wear new shoes, it is essential that you break into them first before you actually wear them on the trip. Wear it first in your home for about a few hours to notice some tight or uncomfortable spots. You could then put in a shoe stretcher if your footwear feels too tight or add some padding for uncomfortable areas. When you wear it during the trip, the shoes have loosened a bit and feel more comfortable to wear.

Opt for Straps or Laces

Although slip-ones look really nice and are easy to wear and take off, they are not recommended to be worn during travel. When traveling, you need footwear that is firmly attached to your feet so you don’t have to mind it while walking. Shoes with adjustable straps or shoelaces are the perfect option for travel shoes. You can adjust them to fit firmly into your feet so you can walk comfortably without minding your footwear from falling off.

Wear the Right Socks

Socks add an extra layer of softness and comfort to your shoes. However, it is important to consider the type of women’s and mens socks that you’ll wear to your destination. If you’re traveling somewhere cold, cotton or wool socks are the best choice since they could help keep your feet warm and toast even if it’s chilly outside.

On the other hand, if you’re traveling someplace warm or hot, opt for moisture-wicking socks instead. Since your feet would sweat a lot while wearing shoes, moisture-wicking socks help dry the sweat faster keeping your feet dry and safe from problems caused by moisture and sweat.

Pack More Than One Pair of Shoes

Shoes can take up a lot of space in your luggage but wearing the same pair of shoes all day, everywhere you go is not really good and could actually cause foot injuries and discomfort. When packing, think about the places you’re going to visit at your destination and pack the appropriate footwear for those.

For instance, if you going on a beach vacation, pack a pair of cushioned flip-flops in addition to your comfy flat shoes. You could also bring a pair of heels or wedges if you’re going to a formal or dressy event. Wear the right footwear for every place to ensure comfort and avoid foot injuries.

Comfort is always the top priority when choosing footwear, whether it is for traveling or just regular use.
