Newhouse Family

The Newhouse family is one of the most influential families in American media. The family’s holdings include Advance Publications, which owns a variety of newspapers, magazines, and digital media properties, including Condé Nast (publisher of Vogue, The New Yorker, etc.), Reddit, and Wirecutter. The Newhouses have been involved in the media business for over a century. Samuel Irving Newhouse Sr., the patriarch of the family, started out as a newspaper delivery boy in Staten Island. From there, he built a vast media empire that his sons S.I. Jr. and Donald would eventually take over. While they are not as visible as some other wealthy families (such as the Kochs or the Waltons), their influence on American media is undeniable.
